A Call for Solidarity

July 24, 2006 — The Solidarity Center notes with alarm the escalating conflict in the Middle East. To date this fighting has led to the tragic loss of hundreds of lives. Each day the conflict continues, it devastates communities and destroys vital infrastructure they rely on for survival. Each day the crisis deepens, the road to recovery becomes more difficult.

As an organization that promotes and defends worker rights and human rights around the world, we call on all parties to respect the most basic right of all — the right to live and work in peace and security.

To our union brothers and sisters now living in a conflict zone, our hearts go out to you, your families, and communities. We stand in solidarity with you in this time of crisis.
