On June 12, the U.S. Supreme Court made it easier for death row inmates to challenge lethal injection execution. The decision is "further evidence of the Supreme Court's increasing discomfort with many aspects of the death penalty," said Steven Shapiro, the national legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union.
