May 22 — Annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall Thousands of veterans, families, friends and visitors will come to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on May 29 for the annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall at 1:00 p.m. During the ceremony, the four names recently added to The Wall will become “official.” The featured speaker will be William P. Frank and singer/songwriter Jimmy Fortune will perform “More Than a Name on The Wall.” Read the Press Release; View Webcast
May 16 — Names to be Added to The Wall The names of four American servicemen will be inscribed on the black granite walls of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial next week. Work will begin on Tuesday, May 16, and a ceremony will be held for the press to witness the addition of one of the names on Thursday, May 18. These additions will bring the number of names on The Wall to 58,253 men and women who were killed in Vietnam or remain missing in action. Read the Press Release
May 10 — Mother's Day at The Wall Mothers whose children served and sacrificed in the Vietnam War and other military conflicts will be honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial this Sunday. The American Gold Star Mothers, American War Mothers and the Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital will be participating in the ceremony scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Read the Media Advisory
April 6 — American Heroes to be Honored Posthumously Eighty-six American heroes will be honored posthumously during the 8th annual In Memory Day ceremony, being held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on April 17. April 4 — Harley-Davidson Foundation Increases Support for The Wall That Heals A national sponsor of The Wall That Heals since 2001, the Harley-Davidson Foundation doubled its support this year to help pay for construction of the new traveling wall. The Wall That Heals features a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as well as a Traveling Museum and Information Center. Read the Press Release; 2006 Tour Schedule
March 31 — Memorial Fund Plans Third National Conference for Educators in D.C. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will be presenting the third national conference of its Teach Vietnam Teachers Network at the American University in Washington, D.C., on June 21-25. Educators interested in attending should submit application materials no later than Friday, April 21. Read the Press Release
March 31 — The Wall That Heals Kicks off 10th Anniversary The Wall That Heals, the half-scale traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, hit the road this week to start its 10th anniversary tour. March 23 — DAV Steps Up Support for The Wall That Heals The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) has doubled its support for The Wall That Heals, a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. March 3 — HBO Sports Covers Baseball Delegation Viewers of HBO’s "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" will see something new on next week’s show: Vietnamese youths learning how to play baseball on the first-ever baseball field in the country, courtesy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
