April 4 — Harley-Davidson Foundation Increases Support for The Wall That Heals
   A national sponsor of The Wall That Heals since 2001, the Harley-Davidson Foundation doubled its support this year to help pay for construction of the new traveling wall.  The Wall That Heals features a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as well as a Traveling Museum and Information Center. Read the Press Release; 2006 Tour Schedule

March 31 — Memorial Fund Plans Third National Conference for Educators in D.C.
   The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will be presenting the third national conference of its Teach Vietnam Teachers Network at the American University in Washington, D.C., on June 21-25.  Educators interested in attending should submit application materials no later than Friday, April 21. Read the Press Release

March 31 — The Wall That Heals Kicks off 10th Anniversary
   The Wall That Heals, the half-scale traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, hit the road this week to start its 10th anniversary tour.  The tour will kick off in Hickory, N.C., on April 6-9, at the Lenior-Rhyne College campus. Read the Press Release; 2006 Tour Schedule

March 23 — DAV Steps Up Support for The Wall That Heals
   The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) has doubled its support for The Wall That Heals, a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.  This traveling exhibit enables many thousands of Americans to have the educational, emotional and healing experience of The Wall in their own communities. Read the Press Release; 2006 Tour Schedule

March 22 — Tim Russert To Speak at In Memory Day Ceremony on April 17
   Nationally recognized journalist Tim Russert will be the featured speaker at the annual In Memory Day ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on April 17. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Read the Press Release; 2006 Honorees

March 3 — HBO Sports Covers Baseball Delegation
   Viewers of HBO’s "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" will see something new on next week’s show: Vietnamese youths learning how to play baseball on the first-ever baseball field in the country, courtesy of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Read the Press Release

February 9 — Baseball Tomorrow Fund Awards Grant
   The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund has received a grant of $41,000 from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to build the first-ever baseball field in Vietnam. Read the Press Release

February 2 — Baseball Builds Bridges Between U.S. and Vietnam
   The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund introduced America’s pastime to Vietnam and promoted awareness of the country’s continuing problem with unexploded ordnance (UXO) during its Bringing Baseball to Vietnam delegation. Read the Press Release

January 13 — Memorial Fund Brings Baseball to Vietnam in Two Landmark Events
   The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will be Bringing Baseball to Vietnam during two baseball-related events: a Jan. 18 exhibition in Hanoi and a Jan. 20 ballfield dedication and baseball clinic in Dong Ha Town, Quang Tri Province. These events are part of the Memorial Fund's Bringing Baseball to Vietnam delegation, taking place from Jan. 17-25. Read the Press Release

January 10 — Battlefields to Ballfields
   The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund will be turning battlefields into baseball fields next week when it leads a delegation to bring baseball to Vietnam from Jan. 17-25.  Bringing Baseball to Vietnam will be co-hosted by Scruggs and Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Danny Graves. Graves is the first MLB player to be born in Vietnam. Read the Press Release

January 10 — Instructing Future Generations
   Memorial Fund Founder and President Jan C. Scruggs writes about the upcoming Memorial Center to be built on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in this Military.com editorial. Learn what the Center's focus will be and what is holding up progress on this important project. Read the Editorial

 
Teach Vietnam Conference

The Teach Vietnam Teachers Network national conference will be held June 21-25 at American University in Washington, D.C.  To reserve your space, e-mail mpayne@vvmf.org no later than Friday, April 7The Memorial Fund will provide meals, accommodations and local transportation.
