A Word from Joe:

A FINAL THANK YOU TO ALL THE WARRIORS!

Thanks to every warrior who manned the phones, wrote the check, shook the hand or travelled the mile on my behalf. I am humbled by the effort you displayed. The task of thanking you and giving you the credit is my greatest quest as a defeated candidate.

Let us all congratulate Mike Rogers on his victory. While his win was gained by negative means and tough attack media, nonetheless, voters chose him to be their congressman. I called and congratulated Mike. He needs our prayers to lead. It is hard to accept defeat, in any form...but it is necesssary.

We were the best campaign with the best message and issues. We lost, they won. They had more money, power and prestige than we did...but they won. I will move forward and thank you for your love and support. God Bless America!

STATESMANSHIP, NOT PARTISANSHIP PUTS AMERICA FIRST!

As this campaign draws to a conclusion on Tuesday, it is clear one difference has surfaced in the last several months between Mike Rogers and myself...Mike has made this race soley about protecting the republican majority, and the leadership of his own party. I have been consistent in saying that I support issues and the will of the people of the third district as my top priority - in other words, people first, party second. In straight terms: I am not a lackey for my party. I will vote my heart and will fight for the issues of justice, equality, healthcare reform (including prescription drug relief), economic development and job creation, veteran fairness, social security, homeland defense, fair trade, environmental protection/cleanup, among other issues.

I will support our president when I feel he is right on defending America abroad, I will fight him when he tries to privatize social security. We can't put our party before the welfare of our nation...that's not putting America first. Mike recently said if he repudiated the National Republican Congressional Committee and asked them to stop slandering me..."they don't care what I think" he was qoted as saying in the Mobile Press Register. What?...he let's them run his own campaign speding millions to elect him and slander me and he can't tell them to tell the truth? What will Mike Rogers do when they want to expand NAFTA and Fast Track or privatize social security? Will they listen to him then?

As a pro-life, pro-second amendment small businessman and United Methodist Layspeaker I know how to stand up for my beliefs and will put America First in the United States Congress. Let's put statesmanship over partisanship. You can do that when you vote Tuesday. May America win!
