Along with all citizens
of Minnesota and the nation, my family
is deeply saddened by the deaths of Senator
Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, their
daughter Marcia, Mary McEvoy, Will McLaughlin,
Tom Lapic, Richard Conry and Michael Guess.
My wife Shari and I came to know Paul,
Sheila, Marcia, Mary and Will during our
campaign and looked forward to every new
encounter. Their passion, enthusiasm,
kindness and love for everyone around
them were always readily evident, but
more importantly, readily felt.
To the family and
friends of those who perished, we know
mere words can do little to console you
for a loss so overwhelming. We offer our
prayers that your cherished memories will
continue to burn in your hearts and etch
smiles of fondness on your faces. The
beauty of life is ephemeral but the memories
are eternal.
