Sign the petition to save the pledge

Take a stand for God and Country and let Joe know that you support his plan for amending the Constitution by signing this petition to protect our Pledge.

A Word from Joe:

PROSPERING IN THE FACE OF SPECIAL INTEREST MONEY AND VICE-PRESIDENTS

The Turnham campaign this week showed that its message and issues at the grassroots level is catching on like brush fire. Even in the wake of our opponent's 'invitation only' fundraising event with Vice President Cheney (pictures were $1,000), our campaign won converts, raised money and gained critical endorsements.

As special interest lobbyists representing the state's biggest money special interest groups brought alms to pay their dues at an exclusive event with Rogers and Cheney, we were meeting and talking real issues with Montgomery County residents at a breakfast at the Farmer's Market. We discussed critical issues like loss of retirement purchasing power because of prescription medicines. The loss of Retirement Systems of Alabama funds due to corporate fraud. We talked with minority business owners who are ready for fresh leadership and someone that will help them gain equal access to bid on new work. We signed a pledge to not take big accounting firm money tied to corporate scandal like our opponent has done. Mike Rogers and Dick Cheney did not take formal questions from reporters while we took any question from the public...why not?

We finished our day paying tribute to the heroes, the Tuskegee Airmen. Real people, real issues, real ideas... this campaign is capturing people's imagination and we can feel the tide moving our way. Thanks for being on the team. We need you. Joe

PUTTING GOOD, PEOPLE FIRST IS PUTTING AMERICA FIRST!

The stories I hear. As a candidate for Congress you have an opportunity to engage real people about real questions of life, many times unfiltered. Sometimes the fact that you are a political candidate for a major office and are asking their own opinion brings out the raw emotion in people. I love to hear the uncut version of what people really think. Sometimes I know that they won't vote for me, but that's OK, that's democracy... and I want to hear from everyone.

People want to be touched by their candidates and elected officials. They want to know that you have cut through the "spin" and "protocol" and are really interested in them. The wisdom of the voter, that blue collar worker, store clerk, retired teacher, small business owner never ceases to amaze me. It makes me want to serve even more.

If I glean anything from these encounters it is this...people want authenticity, heart, and passion from their candidates. They accept your warts and forgive some of your positions if they only feel that you put people first - more especially that you put God first in your own life. They seem to take comfort in knowing that you have a value system that guides what you do...but don't patronize them and be self-righteous...they don't like that. Putting America First is really simple. It means that you put your perspectives in the right place. After all the policy debates it boils down to the basics of God and our countryman...easily said, harder for many to do. God Bless America. Thanks. Joe
