Church World Service's recovery efforts focus on interfaith emotional and spiritual assistance to those directly affected by September 11th as well as to those providing emergency care in New York -- most notably to police and fire units that suffered tragic losses. While addressing the immediate needs of affected communities, CWS is also making for long-term recovery plans. Other services provided have included non-English speaking resident support and the establishment of a resource center linking qualified pastoral counselors with communities in need.

• The Red Cross has developed materials to help families cope with emotional and physical reactions to the terrorist attacks.
