Cross-Cultural Solutions' work normally involves providing humanitarian assistance to communities around the world, including Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe. But after the World Trade Center disaster, the New York State-based group immediately took action by offering crisis counseling, volunteer coordination, food services and other needed assistance. Cross-Cultural Solutions is continuing its local NYC work by teaming up with national organizations also offering relief services.

  • American Psychology Association gives advice on managing traumatic stress.
  • National Institute of Mental Health has a special section on Response to Terrorist Acts Against America.
  • Find an online support group or join in a prayer group in Share Your Support a special area in Groups@AOL.
  • GriefNet has 37 e-mail support groups and an area where kids can help each other deal with their emotions.
  • Beliefnet enables you to find a local house of worship, faith-by-faith guide for dealing with death, and participate in an online prayer circle for the victims of the terrorist attack.

Give Blood

The American Red Cross asks those who wish to donate blood to fill out the blood donor information form to schedule an appointment with your local Red Cross chapter.
