Stronger Economy an Important Part of Homeland Defense
"The terrorists wanted our economy to stop," the President said Wednesday. "It hasn't. They wanted to diminish the spirit of America. It didn't. They thought the government wouldn't be able to react. The government is going to react with an economic stimulus package that is good for workers."

Director Ridge, Medical Authorities Discuss Anthrax
"We are aggressively pursuing every conceivable lead to find and bring to justice those responsible for these terrorist acts," Homeland Security Director Ridge said Thursday. "Our health system nationwide is on full alert, and is working around the clock to identify and treat those potentially affected by anthrax."

President George W. Bush talks with a student at Thurgood Marshall Extended Elementary School, where he announced his initiative, Friendship Through Education, Oct. 25. "We're going to ask schools all across the country to join with schools in other countries to spread the message that we care for each other, that we want to understand each other better," explained the President.
