Today's Featured Charity:
Since September 11, the Suffolk County SPCA has served as the only authorized SPCA humane agency to operate a mobile animal hospital command center for over 300 search and rescue canine teams at the World Trade Center's 'ground zero' site.
The organization has also been rescuing pets from 'restricted zone' homes, where owners have been unable to access their residences because of proximity to the disaster site. Additionally, the Suffolk County SPCA has been successfully coordinating temporary foster care services and permanent adoptions for animals displaced by the tragedy. The all-volunteer agency relies on public donations to ensure the ability to continue their work at the disaster site.
