Nashville, Tenn. October 3, 2001 CMT: Country Music Television and Clear Channel Entertainment have joined forces to present THE COUNTRY FREEDOM CONCERT on Sunday, Oct. 21 at Nashvilles Gaylord Entertainment Center. This one-night only live music benefit will pay tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on America and will honor the efforts of the rescue workers who sacrificed their lives to save others. Country superstars George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, and Martina McBride will join other country greats as CMT telecasts the live concert, commercial-free, on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 8:00-10:00 PM, ET. The full artist line-up will be announced shortly.
THE COUNTRY FREEDOM CONCERT will also be telecast live by CMT Canada. Westwood One will provide the concerts radio feed to stations worldwide. The feed will be made available to all stations.
All proceeds of THE COUNTRY FREEDOM CONCERT will benefit the Salvation Armys wide-ranging Disaster Relief Fund. In addition to all ticket proceeds, designated toll-free phone lines and web sites have been established for viewer and listener contributions. Ticket information for THE COUNTRY FREEDOM CONCERT will be announced later this week. CMT and Clear Channel Entertainment will underwrite all production costs of the live concert event. Powers Management is providing use of the Gaylord Entertainment Center at no cost.
