  • The Pentagon’s death toll from the Sept. 11 terrorist airliner attack may be significantly lower than the potential 800 casualties mentioned in some media reports.

    Preliminary rosters indicate that the “estimate that has been widely reported is considerably higher” than the actual death toll, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told reporters. “And I pray that is the case.” (more)
